Lebanon has more riders than it has bike shops. On Sunday mornings you will see road cyclists climbing out of Jounieh, mountain bikers loading up for the Chouf and students in Beirut commuting on e-bikes between Achrafieh and Hamra. Finding a reliable place to buy a bike, get it fixed or rent one for a few months is harder than it should be, because many small workshops never put anything online and some well-known names from a few years ago have quietly closed.<\/p>\n

So this list is deliberately short. It only includes businesses we could confirm are still operating, with a recent public source. We would rather send you to two good places than to ten phone numbers that ring out.<\/p>\n

How we chose<\/h2>\n

The older version of this page listed ten shops, with phone numbers and websites. When we checked them in 2026, most had no website, no recent mentions anywhere, or a website that was offline or for sale. We removed every shop we could not confirm. What remains are businesses with a working website or recent independent coverage. We did not visit them and we do not take payment for listings. If you run a bike shop in Lebanon that is open and missing here, tell us and we will check it.<\/p>\n

Bike shops and bike services we could confirm<\/h2>\n

1. Bike Generation (Furn el Chebbak, Beirut)<\/h3>\n

Bike Generation is the most established name in Lebanese cycling retail. It was started by a group of friends who wanted to make Beirut friendlier to bikes, and its shop is in Furn el Chebbak, on the eastern edge of the city. It sells everything from entry level bikes to race machines, along with components, tools, clothing and nutrition. Its online store carries Specialized and REID bikes and parts from Shimano, SRAM, RockShox and Park Tool, plus Garmin computers and helmets.<\/p>\n

Two things make it useful beyond buying a new bike. It has a used section and a “sell your bike” service, which helps if you want a decent second-hand frame without gambling on a classified ad. And it has a long habit of organizing group rides, which is the easiest way to meet people who know the local roads. Tip: if you are buying a mountain bike or a folding commuter, ask what they have in stock in your size before you go, as imported stock moves in waves.<\/p>\n

2. Wave Bike (Geitawi, Beirut)<\/h3>\n

Wave<\/a> is not a classic shop, but for many people in Beirut it is the smarter option. It is an electric bike subscription service started in 2021, with a service center in Geitawi. Instead of buying, you rent an e-bike by the month, and the package includes the bike, battery, charger, helmet, maintenance and theft insurance. The bikes are adapted for Lebanese streets, with wider tires, brighter lights and a sturdy double kickstand.<\/p>\n

Wave has also worked with partners in Tripoli, Batroun and Zahle, and offers student and corporate arrangements. It suits anyone who wants to try commuting by bike before spending money on one, or who is in Lebanon for a few months. Tip: Beirut’s hills are real, especially from the seafront up to Achrafieh, so an e-bike makes a daily commute far more pleasant than a standard bike.<\/p>\n

Other ways to get rolling<\/h2>\n

Rent where you ride<\/h3>\n

If you only want a bike for a day in the mountains, renting on site often makes more sense than hauling one from Beirut. The Shouf Biosphere Reserve<\/a> lists bike rental among its visitor activities, and Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve<\/a> in the north offers mountain biking. Call ahead, since bikes are limited and availability changes with the season.<\/p>\n

Buying second-hand<\/h3>\n

Classified sites carry plenty of used road and mountain bikes in Lebanon, including well-known brands. Prices can be fair, but check a few things before paying: the frame for cracks around the welds and the bottom bracket, the chain for stretch, the wheels for wobble, and the brakes for worn pads or spongy levers. If possible, take the bike to a mechanic for a quick look before you hand over cash. A tune-up and new tires are a normal first expense on any used bike.<\/p>\n

Picking the right bike for Lebanese roads<\/h3>\n

Lebanon is steep. The coast is flat for a few kilometers at a time, then every road inland climbs. For mixed use, a hybrid or gravel bike with wide gearing (a small front chainring and a large rear cog) handles both the coastal road and the first mountain villages. Pure road bikes make sense if you plan long rides on the Batroun or Metn climbs. Mountain bikes are the right choice for the Chouf, Jezzine and Mzaar trails. Whatever you buy, budget for good lights and a bright jacket, because shoulders are narrow and many roads are unlit.<\/p>\n

Learn the basics yourself<\/h3>\n

Because good mechanics can be a long drive away, it pays to learn a few basics: fixing a flat, adjusting brakes, cleaning and oiling a chain and indexing your gears. A small multi-tool, a chain lubricant suited to dusty conditions and a floor pump at home cover most of it. Lebanese summers are dry and dusty, so clean and lube the chain more often than the label suggests, and check tire pressure before every mountain ride.<\/p>\n
