Here are the ones worth a family day out.

Trip Information

Region

Mostly Beirut and Mount Lebanon

Best season

June to September

Good for

Families, kids, teens

Summer in Lebanon is long and hot, and children want water. The good news is that the country’s main water parks are all within half an hour or so of Beirut, and the coast and mountains offer other ways to cool off, from sandy beaches to an underground river.

Our old list named ten parks, but several of them were hotel pools, theme parks with a few sprinklers, or places that have since closed or gone quiet. Rather than pad the list, we kept the water parks we could confirm and added a few dependable water days for families. Together they cover every age, from toddlers who just want a shallow pool to teenagers looking for a fast slide or white water.

How we chose

We included water parks with an active official presence or recent listings, and natural or public places that are well established. We left out parks we could not confirm are operating, such as several from the original list. Seasons and opening days change every year, so check each park’s latest posts before you go.

1. Waves Aqua Park (Mansourieh, Metn)

Waves is the largest water park in Lebanon, spread over about 60,000 square metres on a pine-covered hill with views over Beirut and the sea. At its centre is a big wave pool, and around it are two hills with seven intertwining slides, a four-lane racer, an island pool ringed by a lazy river, a semi-Olympic pool and a shallow kids’ pool.

Waves is the most complete day out of the three parks, with cafés and lounge areas spread around the pools, so families tend to stay from morning until late afternoon. The views over the city from the top of the slides are a bonus for parents.

Tip: it normally opens for the summer season, roughly June to September. Arrive at opening time to claim shade. Afterwards, drive up to Naccache for a cone at Le Flocon.

2. Watergate Aqua Park (Dbayeh)

On the coast just north of Beirut, Watergate sits at Le Royal Hotel in Dbayeh, which makes it easy to reach and handy for families who want to stay overnight. It has water slides, a wave pool and a lazy river, plus snack bars serving Lebanese and international food. Being right off the coastal highway, it is the easiest park to combine with a visit to Jounieh or Jeita on the same trip.

Tip: weekends in July and August are crowded. Weekdays are calmer for small children. On the way north, Awad Ice Cream in Ghazir is a sweet detour.

3. Rio Lento Waterpark (Lebanon)

Rio Lento bills itself as having the longest lazy river in Lebanon, along with a wave pool, a sidewinder ride, a tall high speed slide, kiddie pools and safety training for staff. It opens in early June and has restaurants on site. A mini city with small golf cart cars for children has been part of the park and is listed as coming back.

Tip: check its official site or social pages for the season’s opening days and directions before you set off.

4. Jeita Grotto boat ride (Keserwan)

Not a water park, but a water adventure kids remember. In the lower cave at Jeita you glide on a small boat along an underground river lit among stalactites, after walking through the vast upper grotto. It is cool inside even in August, which makes it a perfect midday escape. The caves are among the best known natural sights in Lebanon, and the boat ride lasts only a few minutes, so even small children enjoy it without getting restless.

Tip: the site reopened in November 2025 after a period of closures, and the lower grotto can close in winter when the river is high. Confirm before you go. Photos are not allowed inside.

5. Batroun beaches (North Lebanon)

Batroun has some of the clearest water on the coast and a mix of sandy and pebbly beaches, from free public stretches to beach clubs with pools and snacks. The old town, with its famous fresh lemonade and seafood restaurants, is a short walk away, and the old Phoenician sea wall makes a good stop between swims. Sea conditions in summer are usually calm in the mornings.

Tip: see our Batroun beach guide for families for the easiest spots with kids.

6. Byblos public beach (Jbeil)

Byblos has a sandy public beach just south of the old town, with shallow water that suits younger children on calm days. Combine a swim with a walk through the old souk and the castle, and an ice cream by the old harbour as the sun goes down.

Tip: go early on summer weekends, when parking fills up fast. More beach ideas in our top beaches in Lebanon list.

7. Ramlet al-Bayda (Beirut)

Ramlet al-Bayda, below the Corniche south of Raouche, is the last large public sandy beach in Beirut, free and busy with local families on summer evenings. It is the easiest way to give kids a beach day without leaving the city, and the Corniche above has juice and corn carts for snacks afterwards.

Tip: sea water quality on the Beirut coast varies. Check recent reports and swim on calm days only.

8. Rafting on the Assi River (Hermel)

In the far north of the Bekaa, the Assi (Orontes) River runs fast and cold even in summer, and rafting on it has long been a favourite outing for teenagers and adults. Local operators run trips through the green river valley near Hermel, and the area also has eco lodges such as Lazzab Eco Lodge for a night in the mountains.

Tip: this region was affected by strikes in 2024 and remained unsettled in 2026. Only go when travel advice allows, and with an established operator.

Tips

Water parks usually open from June to September. Confirm days and hours each season.

Bring sun cream, hats and water shoes. Concrete around the pools gets very hot.

Most parks have lifeguards, but keep young children within arm’s reach at all times.

Pack a change of clothes and a cool bag, and check whether outside food is allowed.

Go on weekdays to avoid the busiest crowds.

Carry cash as well as cards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the biggest water park in Lebanon?

Waves Aqua Park in Mansourieh, Metn is described as the largest, covering about 60,000 square metres with a wave pool, seven slides and a lazy river.

When do water parks open in Lebanon?

Most open for the summer season, roughly from early June to September. Exact dates change each year, so check the park’s latest announcements.

Are there water parks near Beirut?

Yes. Waves Aqua Park in Mansourieh and Watergate Aqua Park in Dbayeh are both a short drive from central Beirut.

What else can families do for water fun in Lebanon?

Families can take the underground boat ride at Jeita Grotto, swim at beaches in Batroun or Byblos, or, with teenagers, raft on the Assi River near Hermel when it is safe to travel there.

Sources and further reading

Waves Aqua Park and Resort, Agenda Culturel

About Rio Lento

Watergate Aqua Park, Expedia

Jeita Grotto cleared for reentry, LBCI

The water parks in Lebanon we could confirm are open, Waves, Watergate and Rio Lento, plus beaches, a cave boat ride and rafting for family days.

[170

post-6534","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-travel-in-lebanon
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.7 -
