About arcenciel
Founded in 1985, arcenciel is one of Lebanon’s most established social organisations, combining non-profit programs with revenue-generating enterprises. It works across sectors including health, mobility, agriculture, environment, tourism and social integration, using its own commercial activities to sustain its wider mission. This blend of business and charity has made arcenciel a reference point for social enterprise in the country.
Through its agricultural centre in Taanayel and other sites, arcenciel produces and sells dairy, wine, honey, mouneh and handicrafts, while its mobility program manufactures and distributes wheelchairs. Its environmental arm handles medical and hazardous waste treatment, and its social programs support marginalised groups. Income from these ventures is reinvested into the organisation’s development work.
Why arcenciel Matters
arcenciel shows how a mission-driven organisation can fund social impact through its own commercial output rather than relying solely on donations. Its farm goods, crafts and mobility products carry a story of inclusion, while its waste-treatment services protect public health. Over nearly four decades it has become a durable pillar of Lebanese civil society and sustainable development.
