The 10 Best Places for Couples to Visit in Lebanon

Lebanon is easy to love as a couple. Distances are short, so you can have breakfast in the mountains, a long lunch by the sea and dinner in Beirut on the same day. The best romantic places here are not resorts but old towns, quiet villages, vineyards and the kind of restaurant where a meal lasts three hours.

This list brings together our older couples guide and our date spots post. We kept the picks that are real and still going, and replaced places we could no longer confirm, including the Four Seasons Beirut rooftop, since the hotel itself has announced it will only reopen in 2027.

How we chose

We looked for places with a sense of occasion, that work for a date night or a weekend, and that are well established. We checked current information on official sites where possible and avoided naming venues we could not confirm are open. That meant dropping a few names from the old lists, such as rooftop bars and mountain glamping sites we could not verify. Always book restaurants ahead and check the situation before travelling outside Beirut.

1. Byblos old town and harbour (Jbeil)

Byblos is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world, a UNESCO site with a Crusader castle, Phoenician temples and royal tombs. The best part for a couple is the end of the day: wander the restored old souk, then walk down to the small fishing harbour as the boats come in and the sun drops into the sea.

Tip: stay the night at Byblos Sur Mer on the seafront and see the old town again when it is empty in the morning. More in our Byblos guide.

2. Deir el Qamar (Chouf)

Deir el Qamar is one of the best preserved old towns in Lebanon, with stone houses with red tiled roofs, an old mosque and a square framed by the Emirs’ palaces. Walking its lanes together in the evening is the whole point. The palace of Beiteddine is a few minutes away.

Tip: book a room at Beyt El Jabal, a guesthouse in a restored stone heritage house, and make it a weekend. See our Beiteddine and Chouf village guide.

3. Liza (Achrafieh, Beirut)

Liza serves modern Lebanese food in a grand old house on Doumani Street, its rooms painted and furnished with real flair. It has become one of the city’s classic date night tables, and the restaurant also has outposts in Paris and Riyadh.

Tip: dinner is the more atmospheric sitting. Book ahead, especially on weekends, and leave room for the dessert spread. Achrafieh’s quiet residential streets around the restaurant are pleasant for a short walk afterwards.

4. Sursock Museum (Achrafieh, Beirut)

The Sursock Museum is Lebanon’s best known museum of modern and contemporary art, set in a white mansion on one of Beirut’s prettiest streets. It was badly damaged in the 2020 port explosion and has since reopened with new exhibitions running through 2026 and into 2027.

Tip: go in the late afternoon, then walk the old streets of Achrafieh and Gemmayzeh toward dinner.

5. Mayrig (Gemmayzeh, Beirut)

Mayrig is the place for Armenian Lebanese cooking: cherry kebab, manti, soujouk and mouhammara served in a warm old Beirut house. The food is generous and made for sharing, which suits a date.

Tip: order a spread of small plates rather than one main each. Gemmayzeh and Mar Mikhael, a few minutes away on foot, are full of small bars if you want a drink after dinner.

6. Raouche at sunset (Beirut)

Some of the best moments in Beirut are free. Walk the Corniche together toward Raouche and watch the sun set behind Pigeon Rocks, the two great limestone rocks in the sea. Take a terrace table above the cliff or simply lean on the railing with a ka’ak and a coffee.

Tip: our sunset spots guide has more ideas like this one.

7. Batroun and its wineries (North Lebanon)

Batroun mixes a small old town and a Phoenician sea wall with beaches and a fast growing wine scene in the hills behind. Spend the afternoon tasting at a family winery such as Atibaia in Smar Jbeil, then come down for fresh lemonade and dinner by the sea.

Tip: see our guide to Lebanon’s wineries and book tastings ahead. Choose a designated driver or hire one.

8. Bkassine pine forest (Jezzine)

Near Jezzine, Bkassine has one of the largest pine forests in Lebanon. La Maison de la Forêt, an ecotourism project inside it, rents rustic wooden cottages and tents among the trees, with a small eatery serving local dishes and easy walking trails.

Tip: it is about 60 km from Beirut, via Saida. Combine it with Jezzine’s waterfall. Check travel advice for the south before you go.

9. Tawlet, a farmers’ kitchen (Beirut)

Tawlet, run by the team behind the Souk el Tayeb farmers’ market, invites cooks from different Lebanese villages to prepare the food of their region. It is a relaxed lunch date and a delicious way to taste dishes you will not find on most menus.

Tip: the menu changes with the cook and the season, so go with an open mind. Tawlet also has a mountain branch in Ammiq in the West Bekaa, close to the wetland, if you want to make a day of it.

10. Qadisha Valley and the Cedars (North Lebanon)

For a couple who like to walk, the Holy Valley offers monasteries cut into cliffs, shaded paths by the river and the old cedar grove above Bsharri. It is quiet, beautiful and a world away from the city.

Tip: go in spring or autumn and stay a night in the mountains. See our Qadisha Valley guide.

Tips

  • Book restaurants and guesthouses ahead for Valentine’s Day, weekends and summer.
  • Many of the most romantic experiences here are simply long meals. Do not rush them.
  • Mountain evenings are cool even in summer. Bring a layer.
  • Weekdays are calmer in Byblos, Batroun and the wineries.
  • If you plan to drink, hire a driver for the day.
  • Check the security situation before travelling to the south, the Bekaa or border areas.
